The town of Gulf Stream was incorporated in 1925 as an exclusively residential and recreational town along the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean between Delray Beach and Ocean Ridge. The founders envisioned a place providing its residents and visitors an understated elegant experience, a vision that has been successfully maintained in today's unique community. Beautiful homes, both historic and more contemporary, grace the Australian Pine lined stretch of State Road A1A in Gulf Stream, making the drive one of the most scenic in Palm Beach County. More lovely homes can be found within the town limits, many on the Intracoastal Waterway.
There are approximately 650 housing units within the 537 acres of residential, public and preserved land. Private clubs, including the Addison Mizner designed Gulf Stream Golf Club, the Gulf Stream Bath and Tennis Club, The Little Club as well as the Pre-Kindergarten-8th grade Gulf Stream School lie within the town limits.
